On site durability
Wind in the Mountain West can shred loose housewrap, especially when siding is delayed. A fluid applied barrier is bonded to the wall, so there is nothing to flap or tear.
Cost and schedule
Housewrap usually has a lower material cost. Fluid applied systems cost more up front but can reduce callbacks and help meet air leakage targets. Weather and temperature limits for application should be built into the schedule.
